James Scott

Director of Research, Heilbrunn Center for Graham and Dodd Investing

Before joining the Heilbrunn Center as Director of Research, James Scott was President of Quantitative Managements Associates, an indirect subsidiary of Prudential Financial.  There he was responsible for investment professionals managing $50 billion in enhanced equity index and value funds, balanced funds, equity index funds, multiasset-class portfolios and a long-short market neutral fund.  He was also a major developer of the firm’s active equity strategies.

Before joining Prudential, Mr. Scott was a Professor at Columbia Business School, teaching finance.  Mr. Scott also taught at Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, Stanford University and has served as a research fellow at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.  A cum laude graduate of Rice University, Mr. Scott holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in economics from Carnegie Mellon University. He also serves on the Editorial Boards of the Financial Analysts Journal and the Journal of Investment Management, for which is also on the Advisory Board, and as a Director of the Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance and Chair of its Research Committee
