Governance, Leadership and Elections

Each registered club decides, according to its constitution, which positions are available for election each term. The guidelines below were created to be flexible enough to accommodate the differences between student groups, structured enough to provide transparency and consistency for club members, and simple to understand and enforce.

The two recognized kinds of approved elections are online general elections and election/interview-based selection.  Three election periods have been identified and are described in greater detail below. You will see that there are some brief requirements about how each type of election should be conducted, and about which clubs are required to use general online elections in the spring.

The primary club advisor in the Office of Student Affairs should be consulted in the event of unexpected vacancies in club positions, disputes and in any other situation where mediation might be necessary.
