Student Loan Renewal

Student Loans (Stafford, Graduate PLUS and private):

Deadline: July 1

For: All students, both domestic and international, from the September 2008 and January 2009 entering classes

Steps: 3

1.       In order to renew federal loans, a valid 2009-2010 FAFSA must be on file.

2.       A Stafford loan renewal form needs to be completed.  A separate application with your lender is not necessary if you wish to stay with the same lender you used this academic year.

3.       Complete a new application for loans with your lender for Grad PLUS or Private loans.  The suggested lender chart for 2009-2010 will be announced in the summer

Federal Stafford loans, Graduate PLUS and private loans are not automatically renewed for your second year.  You must reapply by the appropriate deadline to be considered.  If there is a change to your financial situation, your eligibility may be affected.

Student Loans (Federal Perkins or Institutional Loans):

If your award letter states eligibility for a Federal Perkins loan, please visit the Financial Aid section of SSOL to download the application.  You should then drop off the signed Perkins application to 208 Kent Hall.

If your award letter states eligibility for a Carson Loan, please visit the Financial Aid office in 111 Uris Hall to sign a promissory note.

For all other institutional loans, such as the Harrison, Hurok, Noblett, Interschool and Whittemore loans, please visit 208 Kent Hall to sign a promissory note.
