Videotaping of Classes

RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS

Faculty members are asked not to schedule exams or major assignments on religious holidays. Faculty will attempt to accommodate observant students whenever possible. Students who wish to observe a religious holiday may miss class and request that their class(es) be videotaped free of charge.

For core courses, students should coordinate with their academic representative to compile a comprehensive list of courses with course title, number and time that need to be recorded. For courses with multiple sections taught by the same faculty member, at least one section will be taped, even though it may not be the one requested.

For electives, The Office of Student Affairs will post a sign up sheet prior to the holiday in Uris 105. Students should students should come into the Office of Student Affairs, Uris 105, and select the course from the list. If the course already has been selected, you do not need to put an additional check mark.

The Office of Student Affairs will notify the appropriate faculty member and coordinate with the Multimedia Services Group to perform the taping. Students, however, should notify their professors of their absences. The videotaped course(s) will then be available for viewing on the web.

OTHER MISSED CLASSES

For reasons other than the observance of a religious holiday, students may make videotaping requests directly to the Multimedia Services Group at least two days in advance of their class. Include all relevant details: course title, professor, room, start and end time. The cost is $85 per hour and is subject to the availability of videographers. Videos will be posted to a folder in Angel called “Recorded Sessions” in the Content section of the appropriate course. It will take between 24-48 hours after the end of the videotaped course before the videos will be available for online viewing.

In the case of extended illness, medical or family emergencies, students should make their requests directly to the Office of Student Affairs.
