Recognition Ceremony: Sunday, May 16
The 2010 Columbia Business School Recognition Ceremony will be held Sunday, May 16th at 12:30pm. The ceremony will be held on the Columbia University Morningside Campus, on the South Laws near Butler Library.
The Recognition Ceremony is a Business School-only ceremony. This is an opportunity for all MBA students to be individually recognized for their achievement. Students are called on stage to shake hands with Dean Hubbard and receive an alumni pin. Diplomas are not distributed during Recognition, but the following Tuesday after the University Commencement ceremony. A distinguished keynote speaker, selected by the Alumni Transition and Development Committee (ATDC), will provide remarks. There will also be an address provided by the class speaker as well as the Graduate Business Association President.
A professional photographer will be on stage to take photos of each student at several key points on the stage. Students must wear academic regalia, available for purchase in the University Bookstore.
Please note that the Recognition Ceremony will be held outside, under the cover of a tent. The ceremony will take place rain or shine
Graduates are required to check- in between 11:15 -12:00 pm at the designated check-in location (TDB). Upon check in, students will receive a yellow card. On one side of the yellow card, students must clearly write their name and its phonetic spelling. On the other side of the card, students have the option of fill out their contact information. It is important that students keep their yellow card on them at all times. During the distribution of alumni pin students will be asked to walk up on stage and hand off their yellow card to the announcer. The announcer will read the student's name as written on the yellow card. The student will then walk to the center of the stage to shake Dean Hubbard's hand. Don't forget to smile as the photographer takes a photo. At the conclusion of the Ceremony, the photographer will collect the cards from the announcer. The contact information you provide is the only information they will have to send you proof of your photos.
