Graduation Related Events for the Class of 2012

Graduation 2012 related events take place from Sunday, May 13 through Wednesday, May 16, 2012. More details will be added as they become available. Please check back regularly. In addition, you will hear from the Office of Student Affairs with updates and news about the ceremonies and events.

University Commencement is a centuries-old tradition in which the Columbia University President grants degrees en masse to graduating students from all schools, colleges, and affiliated institutions.  During this ceremony, other remarkable members of the Columbia community are also recognized through the conferring of medals, awards, and honorary degrees. During Commencement Week, each school hosts its own ceremony — for the Business School this is the Recognition Ceremony — to individually recognize graduates for their successful completion of requirements.  Such events feature visiting speakers, student speakers and welcome graduates to stage, providing much-enjoyed photo opportunities to commemorate the occasion.

Columbia Business School Recognition Ceremony
The Recognition Ceremony is a Business School-only graduation event. This year’s Recognition Ceremony will be Sunday, May 13th on the South Lawn in front of Butler Library.  The procession of candidates will begin at 11am; the Recognition Ceremony will begin at the conclusion of the procession at approximately 11:30am.  We expect the Ceremony to run for 2 hours.
