“Because real estate is such a practical business, the only way, really, to transfer knowledge is to be with people who do it every day. So for someone really interested in finance, which is Wall Street, and real estate, which is Manhattan, New York provides a special opportunity. It’s the only city where you can find the top professionals in both fields.”
— Daniele D. Bodini MBA '72, chairman, American Continental Properties Group
MBA Real Estate Program students bring a solid knowledge of real estate finance and investment management— in addition to a broad, analytical business education and global perspective— to their work in the industry. Many students come to Columbia Business School with significant real estate experience and then broaden their career opportunities through the MBA Real Estate Program curriculum, a summer internship and their many interactions with practitioners in and out of the classroom. Employers recognize the quality of the program and entrepreneurial spirit of the students: graduates hold positions of influence in many top real estate firms, and our alumni are represented throughout the industry.
Our alumni span the world. A sizeable number continue to live and work in the New York area, but many graduates opt to locate across the U.S. and abroad. Real estate alumni from around the globe play an important role in our students' career development and are able to participate in mentoring activities, share career advice and bring full-time job opportunities and internships to students and fellow graduates.
