Careers and Recruiting

Columbia MBA students are actively sought after by corporate recruiters, who recruit on behalf of as many as 600 employers each year.

MBA Career Management

A strong career management department is integral to ensuring MBA graduates’ success. At Columbia Business School, the Career Management Center is dedicated to partnering with students to help them learn the building blocks of career management that prepare them not only for their first job after graduation but also for a lifetime of contributing to the private, public and nonprofit sectors.

The Career Management Center offers a range of resources to aid in students’ searches for internships and full-time employment. Through one-on-one sessions with advisers to formulate individual job search strategies, as well as workshops and clinics that provide tactical advice, students become well prepared to navigate the job-search process in their first and second years.

Special seminars, speakers and panels explore such topics as the following:

  • Understanding “business casual”
  • Interpreting the Career Leader Self-Assessment instrument
  • Weighing compensation options
  • Conducting effective job searches across industries and around the world

Students learn firsthand about specific companies through numerous corporate presentations and panel discussions in which corporate representatives — many of them alumni — meet informally with students on campus to discuss opportunities in their organizations.
