On-Campus Information Sessions

Information sessions provide prospective students the opportunity to learn more about Columbia Business School’s competitive strengths and the application process, as well as ask questions of admissions officers and current students. You do not need to register in advance to attend.

Prospective applicants often choose to attend one of these sessions and further explore the campus through lunch with a student and/or a class visit.

Chat with a Current Student

Please note: Student Chats will resume for the fall semester in September.

Gain an insider’s perspective on Columbia Business School by informally speaking with a current student. Students are available to meet with prospective applicants on most days on which information sessions are held. Prospective students are met in the Admissions Office at 5:00 p.m. on Mondays and 2:00 p.m. on Thursdays.

Visit a Class

Please note: Class visits for the summer semester will take place from May 27th to August 7th, 2008. There will be no class visits on Monday, June 23rd or Tuesday, June 24th due to midterms. There will be no class visits on Wednesday, July 2nd, Thursday, July 3rd or Friday, July 4th for Independence Day.

Gain firsthand exposure to Columbia Business School’s rigorous and innovative curriculum by attending a class. There are two ways to visit a Columbia Business School class. If a specific course or timeframe is most important to you, you will want to choose the Class Visit Program, outlined below. If you want a more personal and comprehensive look at the Columbia Business School experience and you have a more flexible schedule on the day of your visit, the Host Program may be your best option.

To participate in the Class Visit Program, simply view the list of classes below and decide which class you are most interested in and the time of day that works best for you. (The class visit list is compiled by Hermes Society students, who choose these classes based on space availability and appropriateness for visitors.)  You do not need to register in advance for the course, but we ask that you stop by the Admissions Office approximately 20 minutes before class begins to sign in for the class and pick up a name tag. You can visit a class through the Class Visit Program Monday through Thursday. Note that very few classes are held on Fridays  and none are held during midterm and final exam periods.

Please note: Due to a limited number of seats in each class room, guests may not be able to visit their top choice.

Host Program

Please note: The host program will resume for the fall semester in September and sign ups will be available later in the summer.  If you would like to visit campus during the summer, please participate in the Class Visit Program (refer above).

The Host Program sets you up with a student host for a portion of the day on a Monday or Thursday. Your host will take you to a class or two and introduce you to the sometimes frenzied — but always invigorating — business school environment. This program is designed for those who do not have particular classes they wish to visit, but rather want a general feel for the classes and life as a student at Columbia Business School. Because the visitor attends class with the host (and classes can be anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 7:15 p.m.), it is best if the visitor has a flexible schedule for the day. To participate in this program, click here and fill out the form. Should you have further questions or problems, please email the Host Program at classhosts@claven.gsb.columbia.edu.

Please note that prospective students are asked to observe only and not actively participate in class.  When visiting a class, please ensure that all cell phones, Blackberries and laptops are turned off.  Thank you!
