Research
The Management Division’s faculty is trained in a wide range of academic disciplines. It includes economists, historians, organizational theorists, political scientists, psychologists and social psychologists, sociologists and strategists. The diversity of perspectives, methods and interests inherent in such an eclectic collection of scholars makes for a stimulating intellectual environment.
The fruit of most of our research is the publication of articles in leading peer-reviewed academic journals rather than books or cases. Our faculty members consistently publish in the top journals in economics, psychology, sociology, organizational behavior and organizational theory. In recent years, our work has been repeatedly singled out for honors and awards by organizations such as the Academy of Management and the National Science Foundation.
The division invests heavily to promote outstanding research. It sponsors a weekly seminar series featuring young and established scholars from universities around the world. It provides financial support for the acquisition and analysis of proprietary data, editorial support for papers nearing completion and research assistance through doctoral students. In addition, the division limits the committee responsibilities of non-tenured faculty. In sum, the division places a heavy emphasis on high-quality research and continues to recruit and invest to maintain our position as leaders in the field.
