Related Student Initiatives

Columbia MBA students build on the School’s offerings in leadership and ethics with their own initiatives as well as those developed under the auspices of the center, such as the Leadership and Ethics Board and Speakers Series.

Several prominent, student-led programs that have been popular for years exemplify students’ long-standing commitment to integrating ethics into their education. These include:

David and Lyn Silfen Leadership Series

The student-organized Silfen Leadership Series brings prominent business leaders to campus throughout the academic year for candid discussions of their own choices and thoughts on leadership.

Honor Board

The student-run Honor Board focuses on ethical issues relevant to student conduct on campus. The board represents student interests in discussions with the faculty and administration on ethics issues and assists in upholding the student Honor Code.

Social Enterprise Club

The Social Enterprise Club helps students pursue business ventures — whether private or public — that seek social benefits as a primary goal. Initiatives include an annual conference, panel discussions, mentoring services and networking events and the Club also provides access to career resources. The Club is a chapter of Net Impact, a national network of business leaders committed to using the power of business to create a better world.

The International Development Club

The International Development Club (IDC) aims to explore and create opportunities for the development of emerging economies. It fulfills this misson by: offering education about the field for the community; facilitating experience in the field for interested members; providing career services for members seeking employment in or related to the field; and fostering a network of students, alumni and professionals with common interests. IDC was formerly known as Managers for International Development Initiatives (MIDI).
