What is Risk Solver?
The Risk Solver Platform (RSP) is an upwardly compatible extension of the standard Excel Solver, with the capacity to solve much larger problems -- up to ten times the number of variables, and ten times the number of constraints. The limits now are 100000 variables and 2000 constraints. Moreover the execution speeds are up to 100 times faster than the standard Solver, and its integer and non-linear options are driven by much better and more robust algorithms. You can use it instead of the standard Solver add-in that appears when you select the Data tab in Excel, but it creates its own tab appropriately named Risk Solver Platform. You'll see a familiar Solver Parameters and Solver Options dialog along with several new features.
This Excel add-in is required for some classes.
Installing Risk Solver Platform
The RSP was installed to your laptop by ITG during your configuration session back in Orientation. If you have changed your laptop or have had your Office suite reinstalled since that time, please visit one of our support locations for assistance in re-installing the RSP.If you have the same laptop that was configured by ITG, with no major changes to the MS Office installation, then you can check whether your version of the RSP is functional with the following instructions: Verify Risk Solver Platform
Please note that you must have Microsoft Excel 2007/2010 (32-bit) installed in Windows Vista/7 prior to installing Risk Solver Platform. You must also have full administrative rights on your laptop for proper installation.
