ECHO360

ECHO360 is our infrastructure for capturing classes and events in a new and greatly improved way. The new product, from the ECHO360 company, not only allows for the capture of video and audio, but also adds a vital dimension by adding a synchronized high resolution capture of the teaching PC, so materials such as PowerPoint, websites, and even spreadsheets will be clearly viewed. Thumbnails for each PowerPoint slide or significant screen change are provided to make it easy and fast for a viewer to find exactly the material needed for review. We have also installed annotation monitors in all classrooms to allow instructors to mark up directly on their PowerPoint and spreadsheets so that the notes are easily visible and captured for review.

Other great advantages to the new infrastructure are ease of scheduling and speed of delivery. Any event can be captured with only minutes of lead time, or scheduled in advance for the whole semester, though it is important to note that our policies for recording sessions will remain unchanged, with recordings available for review sessions, makeup classes, OSA approved absences, guest presentations, and other faculty requests. Sessions are captured automatically and delivered directly to the appropriate course location in ANGEL within roughly an hour of the session ending. Enhanced podcast is also available (screenshot and audio) with faculty approval.  Order the downloadable material with care, as students retain copies that can be reproduced and reposted online.

ECHO360 capture is available in all 26 Business School classrooms.

ECHO360 Personal Capture

ECHO360 Personal Capture software is now available to all faculty free of charge.  The software enables the recording of voice, optional video, and a screenshot of your laptop or PC from anywhere, anytime, and publishes the recordings directly to your Angel courses  with a few clicks.    Ideal for ad hoc reviews or permanent course materials.

Access to the software is available through your ECHO System Server (ESS) account.  ESS also provides faculty with access to all ECHO captures we have made for you since deploying the system (2008) for downloading or editing.  For help or training on using these tools, contact your regular support person at ITG.
