The Faculty Activity Report (FAR) Web Site Application
The Faculty Activity Report (FAR) web site application is a web application written in open source software
called Drupal utilizing MySQL as the database and
running on a Linux server. It will provide the following
functionality:
o Import and display teaching ratings
o Import and display articles that have already been
entered into the existing website portal
(Publications Management Application (PMA))
o Allow for generation of FAR-PDF for submission
o This year, we will import new publication data that
is entered into the FAR (but was not in the PMA)
so it can display on the web (such as CBS Faculty
Profile, Faculty Research, Ideas at work, and
Research Archive.) We will do so in a single upload
to the PMA after the Faculty Activity Reporting
closes this year and before the two systems are
connected during Phase II which is due to be
released for 2012.
In the long run, we expect that the Faculty Activity
Report (FAR) website application will:
o Provide a single point of data entry for Faculty
Activity Reports and website updates
o Allow faculty members to generate simple CVs
from the same data included on their websites
and FARs
o Allow for convenient reporting on all aspects of faculty activities
