About Us
The Information Technology Group (ITG) of the Columbia Business School consists of five basic subdivisions or departments, each serving a vital function to the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the organization. These groups are:
- Applications Development
- Infrastructure Services
- Multimedia Services
- Technology Operations (BMO, Operations, PMO)
- Technology Services
Applications Development
This group has the job of providing software and applications specifically developed and/or purchased, required in everyday academic and administrative processes.
Infrastructure Services
All computer systems and materials that are the backbone to the school's computing and networking environment are handled in this group. The networking hardware and wiring, third-level support to ITG internal staff, web/print/research/database/communications services, and all systems administration environments are supported.
Multimedia Services
They maintain the Business School classroom presentation systems, and provide technical assistance and training to users of the classroom equipment. Multimedia also provides Video Production Services. They arrange for video and audio taping of classes and events, provide online hosting of video content, and assist the faculty and administration in the management of video and audio content in all formats.
Technology Operations
This group is divided into three functions. The Business Management Office (BMO), is responsible for all financial operations for ITG. This includes, processing purchase requests for internal ITG purchases and external clients, inventory storage, and asset tracking. Budget reports, analysis, reconciliation, and budget revision, in conjunction with the financial office and the Associate Dean/Chief Information Officer of ITG are managed through the BMO.
Technology Operations is responsible for the oversight of ITG-wide problem, change, and release management. This includes management of School-wide problems from inception to resolution, assessing the impact of changes to the environment and ensuring Quality Assurance is performed, managing crisis response teams to reduce outage windows and impact to constituents, as well as communications to the community.
Enterprise-wide project management, and guidance to ITG project leads for utilizing industry standard project management methodologies, is also managed by this business unit.
Technology Services
They provide on-site and phone support to all of the constituents in the Business School. This includes faculty, staff, and students. This department is divided into separate teams: Faculty Support, Administrator Support, and Student Support.
