Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)The University has outlined an Acceptable Use Policy for University computing resources. By using University resources, you are agreeing to this policy and required to abide by its rules. Failure to do so will result in the loss of access to University computing resources and may result in suspension or legal actions.
Password
Every authorized University or Financial Markets Lab computer account will be assigned a password for authenticating the user of the account and restricting access to the account resources. The password information is restricted to the user assigned the computer account and should not be given or shared with anyone else. Never use someone else's computer account to access GSB or FML computer resources. If additional access is required for your FML activities, submit a request to the Information Technology Group. The FML accounts will expire at the end of each semester. You may reactivate your account by submitting your university ID, and username to the Information Technology Group.
Code Of Student Conduct and Discipline
The University Code will be applied in matters of the use of the technology resources. Violations may be referred to the Dean of Judicial Affairs.
FML Access Policy
Student employees, faculty and staff may request access by submitting an e-mail to the Information Technology Group, for opening the FML (Uris Hall 302) room and accessing equipment and networking resources. You must submit a valid Columbia University ID when access is requested and will be kept by the FML Staff until the access code is changed. It is the responsibility of the individual who gains access to the access code to ensure that all areas are secure upon their exit.
Employee Orientation
New student/faculty/authorized external users may receive an FML computer account by sending a request to the Information Technology Group. Each new user of the FML Computer Systems with access to administrative functions undergoes specific training on the confidentiality of Financial Markets Lab information.
Computer Account Termination
When the FML Manager receives notification of a student leaving the University, or the semester ends their FML computer accounts are disabled.
