A popular initiative of the nascent Program for Financial Studies is the No Free Lunch Seminar. The No Free Lunch Seminar Series invites MBA and Ph.D. students from the Columbia Business School to spend one hour and eat an informal lunch while three faculty members per seminar each present a 15-20 minute talk, discussing their current research. Students must apply to attend each of 3 distinct sessions per term, with a maximum capacity of 64 per event. The series meets approximately monthly during the clubs block time, with the schedule coordinated with the Office and Student Affairs and Career Management to minimize scheduling conflicts. Each seminar is videotaped, with the tape being posted on the Program for Financial Studies website aside links to the relevant research. This allows the viewing of the research seminars by all of the School's internal and external constituencies and easy access to the corresponding research. In this way, both students and numerous others are exposed to the important and timely research being done by the School's professors.
