Synopsis
This conference addresses future implications of the current financial crisis in terms of policies in the U.S. and Japan. Professor Heizo Takenaka, Director of the Global Security Research Institute at Keio University, former Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications and former Minister of State for Privatization of the Postal Services will briefly share some lessons from Japanese experience, and focus his presentation on the direction of the new regulatory framework and the new Japanese government's financial policies. Professor Patrick Bolton of the Columbia Business School will discuss mainly on the U.S. situation, and Professor Takatoshi Ito of The University of Tokyo, who is a Visiting Professor at the Columbia Business School this fall, will focus mainly on Japan. Professor Merit E. Janow of the School of International and Public Affairs will be commentator. Professor David Weinstein will be the moderator.

This will be an inaugural event for CJEB's new program, "New Financial Architecture-Japan & the U.S."
