Initial Steps in the Financial Aid Process
If you plan to apply for financial aid, please complete the Financial Sponsorship page in the online application. Make sure to indicate that you intend to apply for Financial Aid assistance in funding the program.
You can begin some of the Financial Aid application process while applying for admission to the program.
Step 1: Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online. The Title IV school code for Columbia Business School is E00116. Make sure to request a PIN code so that you can electronically sign the online application.
Step 2: You will then receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) as a result of the FAFSA processing. As long as you put the Columbia Business School code on the application, the Financial Aid Office will receive your information electronically. Please review the SAR report carefully, as your FAFSA may be flagged for additional information. Oftentimes students are asked to prove their citizenship, Selective Service registration for males and student loan default status.
Step 3: Separate applications are necessary for each loan type for each academic year for which you are applying. You must first select a lender and the must complete the online applications for both the Federal and alternative loans on the same Web site. As long as the EMBA Business Office is aware that you require financial assistance using loan programs, the Financial Aid Office will work with you to secure these funds. The Admitted Students site will have a step-by-step guide on how to apply for this funding, and you should wait until you are admitted before completing loan applications. Only a FAFSA should be filed before admission.
