Advanced Commerce Research Initiative

The world of commerce is undergoing an unprecedented change. Information technology, especially the Internet, continues to transform the way business is conducted at both the retail and industrial levels. It is creating new channels of distribution for both products and services and is fundamentally altering the way companies operate. Many firms today are experimenting with innovative trading relationships that redefine the roles and responsibilities of supply chain members, in an effort to create new sources of value for their end customer and to gain information to better understand and service their customers in innovative ways.

Objectives

The Advanced Commerce Research Initiative (ACRI) seeks to build a fundamental understanding of these trends and how they will impact individual firms, industries, and the overall economy. The ACRI serves as a forum to sponsor and to disseminate research and to facilitate discussion among academic and industry leaders who are directly involved with the rapidly evolving world of commerce. Its goal is to advance our understanding of commerce as it exists today and how it may evolve in the future.
