Overview:
In the midst of unprecedented change in Japan and in the fiftieth anniversary year of the U.S. - Japan Security Treaty, Ambassador John Roos completed his first year in Tokyo. Ambassador Roos addressed the current challenges that face Japan, the strategic importance of its alliance with the United States, and future opportunities for our bilateral relationship with Japan. Drawing from his roots in the U.S. business community, Ambassador Roos also highlighted areas in which U.S. and Japanese business interests converge to promote sustainable growth and globally competitive industries and services. In that context, he focused on his priorities as Ambassador and on the challenges the United States shares with Japan in the framework of an evolving economic and geopolitical dynamic in East Asia and across the globe.
