CITI and ACORN/REDECOM Announce Call For Papers: "ICTs and its Social and Economic Impacts in the Americas" - Mexico City, May 21-22, 2009

ACORN-REDECOM is a cross-disciplinary academic network of research centers* which seeks to advance knowledge on the social, economic and political impact of ICT in the Americas. It fosters research and dialog among researchers who examine the economic, technological and policy issues that affect ICT and their impact on development.
ACORN-REDECOM is now soliciting abstracts of papers for presentation at the 2009 conference which will take place in Mexico City.
Proposals should be based on current theoretical or empirical research relevant to the communication and information sector, and may be
from any disciplinary perspective. ACORN-REDECOM seeks submissions of disciplinary, comparative, multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary
excellence. Graduate students are encouraged to submit abstracts. Travel funds will be available on a competitive basis.
The purpose of the annual conference is to bring together scholars and members from the private sector and regulators to learn from the
studies and experiences that all of them have encountered as they work in the field of ICT policy. Abstracts or panel proposals can be
submitted, and will be reviewed by a Program Committee.
Subject areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Market environment and industry structure
2. The future of ICT regulation
3. Economic development and competitiveness through ICT
4. ICT and social development
5. Emerging technologies and their impact on the market and regulation
Please submit abstracts and panel proposals electronically to acorn2009@cide.edu
In the abstract please identify the research question, methods, central ideas, and outcomes
(obtained or expected) of the research.
Abstracts are not to exceed 500 words.
