Teaching and research interest

For two decades, Michael has invested directly, at the security level, and indirectly, as an asset allocator, in traditional and alternative asset classes. Michael has spent the last 9 years as an asset allocator at FRM, a diversified multi-strategy fund of fund. At FRM he headed the $2-4Bn equity and event business and was on the investment and management committees. As a member of FRM’s investment committee, he has been involved in Credit, Relative Value, Macro and asset allocation decisions. Michael also has been involved in FRM Capital Advisors (FCA), FRM's seed business, since its inception. Prior to FRM he was a direct investor, investing in publicly traded securities. Michael was an equity and event long/short portfolio manager at Soros (for George Soros and Stanley Druckenmiller), the macro fund and family office, and a multi-strategy prop desk and hedge fund, Modal Capital Partners, at Credit Suisse First Boston. At Soros and Credit Suisse he was a generalist, investing in all S&P sectors and industries. Before that he was a Real Estate analyst at Dean Witter. Michael's education includes a B.S. in Economics from NYU's Stern School of Business, an M.B.A. from Columbia University and the CFA charter. Michael is a member of The Economic Club of New York, The New York Society of Security Analysts, The CFA Institute and The International Association of Financial Engineers.
