Teaching and research interest

Marco Di Maggio is an Assistant Professor at Columbia Business School. He received his Ph.D. from the MIT Economics Department and focuses on corporate finance and market microstructure in his studies. He is particularly interested in how institutional investors affect the functioning of financial markets, and how career concerns as well as market characteristics, such as trading transparency and search frictions, can shape their behavior. He is also involved in a project to understand how the ability to borrow from money market funds affected banks' lending behavior, and the maturity mismatches in their balance sheets during the recent European financial crisis.
