Professor Douglas is a senior executive in the real estate industry with over 30 years experience developing and executing real estate financial strategy, including acquisitions, dispositions, recapitalizations, debt and equity financings, partnerships and restructuring, both domestic and global. The origination of the first rated commercial mortgage backed bond earned her a reputation for creative financing. Her work has included major project and corporate real estate restructuring, including the privatization of Canary Wharf Group in 2004.

Since 1999, Professor Douglas has been a principal of MainStreet Capital Partners, specializing in real estate investment advisory services. Her most recent experience has been on private equity investment in international and emerging markets, with a particular focus in Brazil since 2006. Her clients have included leading real estate companies around the world: the Canary Wharf Group in the UK, Cyrela Commercial Properties in Brazil, Cadillac Fairview in Canada and the LeFrak Organization, Boston Properties, and Yale and Brown Universities in the US.

From 1982 to 1994, she was a Senior Vice President at Olympia & York. In that capacity, she was responsible for the corporate and asset financing strategy and executed approximately $1 billion of financings per year. From 1977 to1982, she was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley executing portfolio dispositions, M&A transactions, and development joint ventures.

In addition to being an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Business School she has previously taught Real Estate Capital Markets at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and has guest lectured at Harvard Business School, Yale School of Management, the Wharton School and the Tuck School.
