Professor Willens was formerly tax partner-in-charge of the capital markets group at KPMG Peat Marwick, and he has participated in numerous transactions focusing on devising tax- and accounting-oriented solutions to business problems. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where he served as chairman of the committee on revision of the corporate tax laws. Willens is the author of Taxation of Corporate Capital Transactions (John Wiley & Sons, 1984) and more than 200 articles for such publications as the Journal of Taxation, the Journal of Accountancy and the CPA Journal, and serves as a contributing editor to the Journal of Accountancy and the Journal of Taxation of Investments. Willens has been called one of the "100 Most Influential CPAs" in the United States by Accounting Today, and for several years he was named to Institutional Investor’s All-American Research Team.
