Professor Klepper joined Columbia Executive Education in 1996. He teaches Executive Leadership in the EMBA program. His teaching and research interest are in the areas of Executive Learning, Strategic Leadership and Corporate Governance. His most recent book, The CEO’s Boss: Tough Love in the Boardroom is available from Columbia University Press (May, 2010). Among his publications are How Educational Initiatives Are Aligned With Business Objectives, 2000 edition of International Executive Development Programs and the case study on the successful Sony Mobile Communications America turnaround, for which he served as faculty director in this two-year educational intervention at the strategic level by Columbia Executive Education. The 2002 Academy of Management conference was the most recent venue for updating the continued success of this intervention within companies at Sony Electronics North America. The ,Klepper Leadership Model was featured in the book, Key Account Management and Planning, 2002. His work with Executive Leadership Styles was featured in the New York Times (August 26, 2007), Under New Management. His article on What CEOs Have Yet To Learn was featured in Columbia Business Schools Alumni E-Newsletter and was published in the Effective Executive, Icfai University Press (January, 2009). As Academic Director of Executive Education Programs, Professor Klepper is responsible for coordinating faculty resources inside and outside Columbia, overseeing program design and conducting research.
He has served as a consultant to corporations, colleges and universities, school districts and government agencies and has worked with a number of corporations in custom services including AT&T, BankBoston, Bausch & Lomb, Bell Canada, BOC Gases, Chase Manhattan Bank, Aviva(CGNU), Deloitte Touche Tomatsu, DuPont, Ericsson, General Electric, GKN, Grand Metropolitan, Hertz, Johnson & Johnson, KONE, Altria(Philip Morris Companies), M&T Bank, Nabisco, Novartis, Pfizer, Roche, SAP, Sony, StorageTek, Sun Microsystems and White Eagle Industries (Poland).
