Using both cross-cultural and within-culture research, Professor Savani's research examines how the ideas, practices, and situations pervasive in different societies shape the way people think, feel, and act. His research spans a wide range of topics from political attitudes and interpersonal negotiations to consumer and financial decision making to emotion, motivation, and visual attention. His recent research has focused on using knowledge gained from cross-cultural comparisons to improve people's decision making and to increase their support for collectively beneficial public policies. Professor Savani teaches the Managerial Negotiations course.
