Available Resources & Equipment

The behavioral lab is the primary means of conducting questionnaire-based research and collecting empirical data at Columbia Business School. The lab consists of a large computer room with 20 terminals, located in room 304 of Uris Hall, and an additional space in the basement of the Uris Hall in rooms B203, B204 & B205, under the Uris deli. The basement lab room B203 has an additional eight (8) computer terminals and rooms B204 & B205 combine to form a large “flexi-space” for conducting interactive group experiments and studies involving multimedia and physiological equipment.

Computer workstations

There are 20 networked computer workstations available in the third floor lab, and an additional eight (8) workstations in the basement lab.

Basement lab B204/B205

This lab has four moveable tables each of which can seat two participants. The tables can be wheeled together to form a large conference table. This lab can be used for paper-and-pencil surveys or for studies of group interactions. You can also view a full listing of our lab inventory.

Software

We have a site license for MediaLab, a program for generating and running experiments on computers. All computers in the lab have the program installed, and researchers may request a copy for their own computers. Documentation is available through MediaLab’s Web site. The main computer in the lab also has DirectRT, SPSS, SAS and SimStat with WordStat (for text analysis) should you wish to do data analysis there.
