Welcome to the Behavioral Research Lab

Interested in Participating in a Study?

Columbia Business School faculty are actively engaged in research on how people make decisions, form impressions of others, choose products, and other everyday aspects of human behavior and thinking. Subjects are invited to participate in this research as paid participants. Most studies are short (20 minutes to an hour long) and take place at our Behavioral Research Lab at Uris Hall. We are now offering online studies that subjects can participate in remotely, providing they have a computer with internet access.

Our studies usually pay on the scale of $15-20/hour for in-person studies and up to $20 per study for online studies. Our studies typically ask people to indicate their opinions and judgments about ordinary things. Many participants report that they find the studies fun and thought-provoking.

Joining does not involve any costs or obligations; it’s simply a way to be notified about future paid studies. To participate in our studies, join one or both of our databases.

If you are affiliated with Columbia University or are able to visit the behavioral lab in person, log in, browse through and sign up for in-person studies at the behavioral research lab.

All are welcome to sign up for our online database.
